Terje Isungset is releasing his sixth Ice CD, "Wintersongs", at the full moon concert this year.
This time there is an astonishing wealth and variety of sounds through the use of
instruments such as ice harp, ice hardanger fiddle, ice horn, ice percussion, glass harmonica and vocals.
Isungsets versatility as a composer is fully presented. Melodies from the commisioned works "Mellom Fjell" ,
"Under is" and "Fossekall" are included on this disc.Isungset has coined the term "ice music" and continues
to be the only dedicated ice musician in the world, continually researching the possibilities and limitations of
ice as a material for making music.
All instruments are made from earths most vital natural resource: water.
Naturally frozen water from rivers and lakes. Renewable and sustainable. Isungset poetically states that he is
merely borrowing the instruments for a time, as nature will reclaim its water to put back into circulation.
The record "Wintersongs" will be released on All Ice Records and will as previous ice recordings be presented at
Ice music festival -Geilo, during the first full moon of 2010."Winter Songs" was recorded in 2009 in an igloo at
Geilo as well as in a large Ice Dome in a glacier 3000 m above the sea in Val Senales, South Tirol.
